Established in 1998, we are the first permitted fishing outfitter on the Grey Reef section of the North Platte River. For over 20 years we have provided our fly fishing and hunting guests with the best access to Grey Reef and the surrounding area. Welcome to Grey Reef and the home of the BuffTrout™, The Reef Fly Shop, Cottages & RV is a fly fishing operation unlike any other in Wyoming. Located at the entry to Grey Reef, we defined the term “full-service fly shop”. The Reef Fly Shop’s singular focus is to serve Central Wyoming fly fishing with the most experienced guides, many private boat ramps, four stylish and functional vacation rentals, 15 RV sites, drift boat rentals, river shuttles, custom flies, fly fishing gear and the best advice in the biz. Our location is second only to the North Platte Lodge. Even our beer selection is handpicked to align with the soul of Central Wyoming.
At the North Platte Lodge and The Reef fly Shop we have a range of bird hunting, cast and blast, and shooting options. We are comfortable saying we have the best sage grouse hunting anywhere. Early season waterfowl hunts, blue grouse(dusky grouse), Hungarian partridge, preserve hunts and sporting clays-we have a lot of options! Our early duck/goose hunting season generally starts the first weekend of October and lasts two weeks. Days start early on crisp mornings and consist of calling waterfowl over decoys, with retrievers ready for action.
Pathfinder Outfitters (BG-058) is the big game hunting branch of the operation. Packaged hunts utilize the North Platte Lodge for accommodations and meals. Whether it’s a trophy hunt or something a little more specialized, we have you covered. You want to fish and hunt on the same day? We have the guides and experience to make it happen. Our guides are dedicated, knowledgeable, and gritty ensuring an enjoyable experience. In a nutshell, we are not a volume-based big game outfitter. We select the timing of our hunts, allowing us to specifically focus on you. Our goal is to give you the best experience in the best areas.
