WATERFOWL AND UPLAND BIRD HUNTING

North Platte Lodge provides the best sage grouse hunting anywhere. The season runs the last 10 days of September, which coincides with excellent fishing—making this hunt a premier Cast-and-Blast opportunity. Early season waterfowl hunts and Cast-and-Blast are also popular. Our duck hunting season generally starts the first weekend of October and lasts two weeks. Days start early on crisp mornings and consist of calling waterfowl over decoys, with retrievers ready for action.

HERE IS WHAT WE OFFER

Sage Grouse
Wyoming, specifically Central Wyoming, is home to the largest sage grouse population in the world. We have been chasing these critters since our inception, so our knowledge of the species and the area is second to none. Large tracts of private access along with even larger sections of unmolested public lands, make this hunt truly one of a kind. Sage grouse are an amazing bird and we pride ourselves in self-regulation. We only take a limited number of hunters each year, ensuring healthy populations for years to come.
Season: Sage Grouse (September 18-30)

Upland Game Bird
Blue grouse and Hungarian partridge are both within striking distance of the North Platte Lodge. That being said, we watch these populations closely, as not every year has a huntable population. If the populations are not there, well it’s not on the menu. We do not release birds and tell our guests they are hunting wild Hungarian partridge. Huntable, wild populations, that’s what we do!
Seasons: Dusky aka Blue Grouse (September 1-December 31)
Hungarian Partridge (September 15-January 31)

Late Season Waterfowl
We sit on the Western edge of the Central flyway. With open water year-round and localized agriculture, we have waterfowl from start to finish. Obviously, weather patterns largely dictate the number of birds in our area. Early season(the first two weeks of October), is typically some of the best hunting of the year and combines well with our cast and blast program. But late-season, with the right weather, creates some of the most memorable hunts of the season. Large Northern mallards and other late migrating puddle ducks, as well as geese – that’s our late season program in a nutshell.
Seasons: Central Flyway
Ducks (October 2 – October 17) (November 6 – January 25)
Dark Geese (October 2 – October 13) (November 13 – February 13)
*Seasons are subject to change*
