It’s been really fun around here the past few weeks. Water conditions are about as good as gets, very clear and low. We are seeing a little bit of suspended vegetation on Grey Reef but all and all, not that bad. Pack the quiver if you are headed our way. Everything is in play; nymphs, streamers and dries. Light nymph rigs, no need to dredge the bottom. Midges, baetis, craneflies, red annelids, pyralids, stonefly and some PMD stuff is what’s mostly on the menu. Streamers are also another great option, if you looking to be a little more active. Fast, slow and/or a medium retrieve-take your pick. Smaller patterns seem to be more productive but you can throw the big stuff, if that’s more your style. Now is the time to be creative on Grey Reef. If you’re Mile bound it has mainly been a nymphing program with some streamer fishing mixed in. Cardwell/Fremont a light nymph rig has been the way to go with some dry fly fishing sprinkled in. We are expecting water levels to stay the same for the remainder of the month, so let the fun continue!
