Casper and the surrounding area have big things going on this weekend. First the Bear Trap Summer Music Festival starts today and pauses for the eve after Rodney Crowell plays, then tomorrow Father of new grass Sam Bush will cap the program. Lots of vendors, food, stuff and plenty of good music. Deer Creek Days is happening in Glenrock and it is a small town festival with mud volleyball, music, parade etc. Fun times!
Fishing is still excellent and Fremont Canyon is almost back to where it should be. Shhhh! Rumor is that it is fishing awesome although it looks a little pea soupy. Miracle Mile is tanic and looks off but fishing is solid. Grey Reef has gathered a bit of green color after our big rain a few days ago. After a cruise around Alcova Lake and up Fremont Canyon it became evident why the river is a little colored. The rain storm was a deluge at Alcova and moved lots of debris, rocks and sediment into the lake. Some parts of the lake still hadn’t settled and there were stripes of pine needles and cones lining the shore. Up on Fremont Canyon some large cobble had been moved and deep gullies cut by the runoff. Back hoes were needed to excavate the culverts on Lake Shore Drive.
We have some really good opening coming up. Of course the cottages have been getting rave reviews and the fishing has been stealing the show so come see what it is like to have the ultimate river accommodations with great fishing.
