Casper Wyoming Fly Fishing

CONGRATS Joe Williams and guide Seth on a sizable brown dedicated to streamer fishing yesterday. Grey Reef fly fishing report for yesterday is pretty stellar. Miracle Mile fishing report is good but nothing like Grey Reef or Fremont Canyon AKA Cardwell Access Area. The water is still green with 2′ of visibility on the upper Grey Reef from Grey Reef Dam to Ledge Creek. Visibility drops a bit around Ledge Creek then improves as you head toward Lusby. Fishing was excellent. a sz 20 black All Day May  killed it until mid afternoon when we changed to a little PMD Barr’s Emerger…they wanted that bug! 4′ leaders a #4 shot or 2 and a stealthy indicator is a good idea all bound to 4x fluoro. YEllow Sally nymphs were intimated by a pheasant tail and received a fair amount of attention. Seth’s boat was on a streamer mission and they did very well with some big fish in the bag. tandem Goldie/Peacock Bugger rig was their favorite.

As runoff is putting the fishing on hold in other regions the fun part of the season is just starting here. Lots of bugs and nice weather with insanely hungry trout. We love it! Come to Alcova and stay at the nicest lodging facility in the region. We do have some cottages available and there are lots of family activities, views and historical and cultural sites.
