Fall Fishing is Here! North Platte River Fishing Report

Fishing has been fantastic on all three tailwaters lately, the fish are still looking up! Dries, streamers, and nymphs have all been working well. We had some wintery cold weather last week, but this week looks to be awesome, highs in the 50’s, sunny and not much of that “W” word.

Fremont/Cardwell- 75 CFS- Fishing has been good with little pressure up there. Baetis and midges are coming off, pheasant tails and rs2’s are the name of the game. Leeches, worms and scuds are working as well, if you’re not throwing the buggy stuff. Streamers, especially in the canyon, have been finding some nice fish. Black peanut envy, thin mints, and the goldie have been our best streamers.

Miracle Mile- 500 CFS- Fishing has been pretty good out there, the road has not. Nasty weather has the road in bad condition, its dry now but that can change at any moment. Leeches, San juans, pheasant tails, poxyback baetis, and the soft tex scud have been getting them.

Grey Reef- 500 CFS- Fishing is still great from the Dam to Casper, while they are still present the grass is dissipating on the upper section. The channels are more obvious and full of fish. San Juans, Leeches, Soft tex scuds, Pheasant tails, prince nymphs, and the trusty RS2 have all been working. Rusty trombone on the slow swing has been producing, as well as the peanut envy, mini dungeon, and goldie.
