We are full steam ahead, gearing up for fall! Weather is gorgeous, river is clearing up and we have fishable water from Grey Reef Dam to Glenrock. Woohoo!! This really is one of the best times of year to be in Central Wyoming and on the North Platte River.

FAQs: When are the browns spawning? First things first, we encourage folks NOT to target fish on redds. But to answer the question, brown trout spawn for Grey Reef/Miracle Mile/Fremont Canyon typically starts in November and can run into February.

GREY REEF: 1,000cfs. Water is fishable from Grey Reef Dam to Casper. Water temperatures are good, hovering around the low 60s. Clarity improves the further down you go as the sediment and fines settle. We are getting a decent number of fish to eat the streamer on the lower reaches. Otherwise it’s tricos in the AM and caddis/psuedos in the PM, as far as the bugs are concerned. We expect Grey Reef to drop anytime, going to winter flows. This should only help the dry fly fishing, especially the tricos.

FREMONT CANYON: 82cfs. A little cloudy but very fishable. Tricos in the morning and the fish are looking up! Afternoon program has been dry/dropper, hopper with a beadhead dropped a couple feet below.

MIRACLE MILE: Flows are holding steady at 1,400cfs. Caddis, worms and leeches. Per usual the Mile has been a little hit or miss.
