Fish, Water and Flies

Central Wyoming fly fishing remains excellent. Grey Reef flows are a measly 500cfs and Miracle Mile flows are 2500cfs. The Creeks above Glendo Reservoir are charging adding an extra 2500cfs to the system. With the downstream flooding they have choked us off to alleviate some pressure. This could have been a much different scenario had the BuRec been conservative with filling Glendo too early…now the campgrounds are flooded there. Fishing has been excellent with short and light bug rigs on Grey Reef. The baetis are dwindling quickly and midges have taken over as king ding-a-ling. PMD nymphs and some yellow sallies are showing in samples. Grey Reef is in good condition above Government Bridge and dirty below that point still. Miracle Mile fishing is ok with one day producing pretty well and the next poor. Fremont Canyon fishing is superb.

North Platte Lodge still has an amazing spot arriving the 30th of June and departing July 4. I would argue this is the best summertime option and in the very short golden stonefly window! Beautiful weather, excellent fishing and very good water conditions that time of year.
