We hope everybody made it through another crazy holiday season and Happy New Year! Now we can all take a breath and focus on what really matters…fishing. Central Wyoming had a deep freeze and Grey Reef was one of the noted chilly spots at -30. Things have returned to normal and like always the fish are cruising around eating bugs like nothing ever happened. The North Platte River is still choked with ice down low but the upper is very fishable. Standard winter rigs with a slowly retrieved streamer or light nymph rig with a midges, scuds etc are going to be your best bet. This is true at Grey Reef, Fremont canyon and Miracle Mile. We are expecting some breeze but a calm afternoon will get fish up eating midges. Focus on Fremont if you want to hone your dry fly skills then switch to Grey Reef to begin you training a Jedi Master. They are tough but fun.
