Grey Reef Angling Report

We have had very nice temps this past week and the fishing has been very good at Grey Reef, good at Fremont Canyon and fair at Miracle Mile. November was a month to remember with a pile of 25’+ browns…maybe the best month for big fish we have seen in 15 years?

A cold spell is approaching and we could see temps well below zero in Alcova by Wednesday. Theses systems never last long and are rarely accompanied buy moisture. Generally we have a couple super cold days and then Chinook Winds warm up the area again. Expect slushy and icy conditions on the river below the first couple miles. The upper reaches should fish very well just be careful! A swim at -10 could be really uncomfortable. Book a cottage at The Reef Fly Shop to have a warm base to watch the football game and escape the chill between fishing sessions.

We are receiving quite a few early inquiries and booking for next season. Space for larger groups is becoming harder to find. Give a shout if you are considering a Grey Reef trip next year. Learn why The North Platte Lodge and The Reef Fly Shop are the go-to operations. Our location, facilities, guides and experience are unmatched. Our philosophy is also completely different than any other outfitter in the region. The experience is about diversity, fun, respecting the resource while having more success than should be allowed. Back row the same run for hours? Nope.  Dredge plastic beads as flies? Nope. Bugs not Beads! Our guides  like to use their brains and depth of experience to fish. We have a great facility for corporate groups and if they are more than 12 anglers we have beautiful cottages available to accommodate.
