Central Wyoming fishing is impressive and the North Platte River is quiet. I love these conditions!
Miracle Mile fishing report and flows are good production and the water is taking on classic Miracle Mile tanic tea color. Flows are 1800cfs and caddis and doing their thing. streamer activity slow but nymphing solid with soft hackles, worms, beady leeches and never discount midges! Other patterns of note are scuds and big stone fly stuff with PMD and sally junk in the mix.
Grey Reef is fishing excellent with flows down to 2000cfs. Expecting 1700cfs for Monday. Sallies not a huge factor but caddis yes! PMD still relevant and the midge hatches are huge. Tricos will continue their pilgrimage and expect fish on dry fly-trico spinners every AM for the next month +. Hoppers?? Force feed them but wide spread hopper activity not gracing us. Streamers are heating up nicely! Embrace the weed beds folks…they are, after all, structure. Don’t throw your streamers into the weeds and keep your rigs suspended and you will catch many fish.
New to Grey Reef? The true Grey Reef section from the Dam to Government Bridge is not a typical trout stream and always defaulting to fishing banks and outside corners will generally not result in big success.
