We have been in a warm and windy pattern but snapped that a bit yesterday. Central Wyoming fly fishing is pretty darn good with solid reports yesterday. Goldie getting the job done on the retrieve. Nymph rigs getting lots of attention on scud/midge or midge/midge rigs. There are about 100 different midge patterns that I could suggest but the fact is they will eat just about and reasonable pattern presented in the faster seams and drops during the daily hatch or in tailouts and troughs the remainder of the time. We have boats on the water again today and tomorrow. Overcast, calm and pretty warm…perfect for the intended streamer assault. One guest has been watching the weather and bought flight tickets last minute to take advantage of an excellent time of year to throw streamers and also the “shoulder season” rates of $475 for a full day guided trip and a night in a cottage this price includes private access. Our quantity of private access is staggering and only one other outfitter has private Grey Reef access. Not to mention our location that can’t be matched. Do a little homework before booking the cheap trip.
NPL has been busy answering calls about next season. Spring will be here soon and the doldrums of winter will prompt a needed fishing trip. April is the month known for likely the most insane fishing of the year. Grey Reef’s trout are hot on the baetis and midges and sliding back into feeding lanes after their hard work on the redds. It is a sight to behold!
