Grey Reef Fly Fishing and Conditions Report

Cold! Snowy! Grey Reef fishing will be tough today due to -25* wind chills. Wyoming Hwy 220 from Casper, WY to Alcova is in fair condition with drifting snow and ice. Visibility is terrible however. The North Platte River is running heavy slush above Government Bridge and most of the lower river is iced. The Grey Reef Section of the North Platte River (Grey Reef Dam – Government Bridge) is open and fishable near the top or below Grey Reef Dam. Accumulations were only a couple inches by this AM in Alcova but we have in the 7″ range at my home in Casper. The coming week looks nice however you can be sure there will be muddy water conditions if it warms up quickly.

The spring flush was postponed to March 17-26. Likely, it will be postponed again if we continue with winter.
