Central Wyoming Fly Fishing will be stymied by a nasty winter storm that attacked Grey Reef last night. I25 from Casper, Wyoming to Wheatland, Wyoming is closed. US HWY 20-26 from Casper, Wyoming to Shoshone, Wy is closed and there is no unnecessary travel from Casper to HWY 487 and closed to Alcova, Wyoming on US HWY 220. Good thing we poured concrete for the new barn yesterday when it was 58* at The Reef Fly Shop. As of right now the roads are super slick and Alcova is isolated…call before trying to get out here.
Day 2 of the Grey Reef flushing flows and all is going well. Be very suspicious of articles written (and informed) by the uninformed. Fishing is great at Grey Reef and Fremont Canyon fishing reports are solid as well. Miracle Mile fishing report is fair and leaving many scratching their heads. The fish are still there and eating but a different approach can be a good idea. Miracle Mile Trout eat midges and they hang out in the tailouts. You can take that to the bank. Road conditions to the Miracle Mile were drastically improved but today’s snow will mess them up AGAIN.
