Central Wyoming Fly Fishing report for Grey Reef is nothing short of stellar. Excellent emerger rig fishing on Grey Reef and Fremont Canyon. The Reef Fly Shop patterns like Foam Wing RS2, Mayhem Midge, Big Bear Baetis, PAL, All Day May etc going to work with silly results. Miracle Mile fishing report is not as positive but still good. Miracle Mile trout always react well to San Juan worms and Beady Leeches but don’t ignore the little stuff! We’ve had some limited dry fly success the past week as well as insane streamer fishing the past few days. Olive and rubber legged patterns like Bergin Buggers getting tons of love…but not over the Redds! Slow deep tailouts were loaded with aggressive Grey Reef trout who were willing to track pretty quickly stripped bugs.
Next week is the 2 Fly competition on the 8th and 9th. Expect very busy Grey Reef fishing conditions. The North Platte River is a great host for raising a lot of dough for local charities but we have to check ourselves out of quiet mode for a day or two.
Booking NPL stays for a late fall streamer extravaganza. October is big fish month on the Grey reef section of the North Platte River. We cover nearly 100 miles of super productive water all the into and beyond Casper, Wyoming. We have availability starting mid October. Also a couple late August spots available for full lodge groups. This is dry fly, streamer and likely hopper time!. Other options include Memorial Day weekend and a couple small gaps in June. September has scattered availability and the psuedos and caddis keep Grey Reef fishing on point.
