Its late November and the fishing is great! Fishing on all three tailwaters has been good, especially on the Reef and at Fremont. The off-season is a great time to experience Grey Reef, big feisty fish and close to zero crowds makes for a great time. We will be closed tomorrow for Thanksgiving and will be open again on Friday from 8-12.
Miracle Mile 500 CFS- The Mile has been fishing pretty well but has been getting pounded with people. Scuds, leeches, san juan worms, pheasant tails, and midges have been good out there. Swinging streamers can also be effective, the goldie or the rusty trombone are always our go-tos.
Fremont/cardwell-500 CFS Even with the higher flows the fishing has been great! Streamers and nymphing has been solid with some dry action on the right afternoons. PSL’s, hot head leeches. Reef worms, scuds, and midges are all catching them. The streamer bite is really good on the more overcast days right now.
Grey reef- 500 CFS Fishing has been just fantastic on the Reef. Definitely the most consistent fishing around. Plenty of big fat rainbows and a good amount of browns being caught. Everyone is asking if the grass is out of the reef yet, it’s not but its really fishable. The grass plays a really important part of keeping our river so healthy, the fish like it and so should we. Amber scuds, hot head leeches, pheasant tails, PALs, Macgruber Midge, and UV emergers are all on the menu. Streamer fishing has also been good, keep your retrieve really slow with a few pops here and there. Goldie, rusty trombone, peanut envy, heisenberg have been our favorite patterns.
Its really important to watch out for spawning fish this time of year, please respect the fish and leave them alone. We are seeing tons of people fishing on the redds, especially at the Mile.
Come see us now through the end of the year and check out some of our sale items, we have some wicked deals on great gear and clothing! Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
