More Rowdy Wyoming Fly Fishing Conditions

Such a gorgeous past week in Wyoming then we get slapped with this. We experienced a couple hours of rain last yesterday and snow overnight and continuing. The North Platte River is suffering the impact. The lower river is chocolate. Bates Creek is CHARGING! Fly Shop Creek is big and the after bay aka Grey Reef Reservoir is soaking up the sediment. Still plenty of fishing options. Get your walleye rig dialed and head to Pathfinder! We have a cottage vacancy at the fly shop for tomorrow and Thursday eve. Stay warm and on site to target the fishing on your terms. The baetis hatch has been insane and swinging soft hackles or nymphing real bugs has been mind blowing. Streamer activity has been minimal but there are good options for surface feeders.

With our snowpack and the reservoirs nice and plump, we are gaping to have a superb summer and fall season. There will be no lack of water and suspect we will get good flows…remember Bigger is Better at Grey Reef. The old adage about low water being advantageous is dead and frankly boring. Favorite Miracle Mile flow is 8000cfs…and it is only 2000 right now. So mangy cool spots open up at big water, but you have to think outside the box.

Our little spring beatings make the remainder of the season that much better…I bet hoppers are going to show this year;)
