North Platte Fishing Report- Grey Reef, Miracle Mile, and Fremont Canyon

Flows are on their way down on all three Tailwaters and the fishing is great! Grey Reef dropped to 3,500 CFS today and is supposed to stay there for a little while. With lower flows the water temp will start increasing and we will start seeing more and more summer bugs start to come out.

Grey Reef- 3,500 CFS- Fishing has been good from the dam down to Bessemer Bend. Worms and Leeches are still great go-to point flies. Mayhem Midges, Pheasant Tails, Hare’s Ears, and RS2’s are all great trailers. With more bugs we will see fish start to move into the faster riffles and seams, but there are still fish hanging out in the slower inside corners and on the edges of the fast water right now.

Fremont/Cardwell- 2,700 CFS- As the flows drop the wade fishing will become more accessible. Fish really start to key in on caddis dries in the evening this time of year. Caddis and PMD nymphs are the ticket right now. A Pheasant tail with a RS2 below is a great setup right now. As with all of the tailwaters depth and weight are very important, if you’re not catching them start playing around with your depth until you find where the fish are sitting in the water column.

Miracle Mile-3,200 CFS- Fishing has been good out at the Mile. Leeches, stoneflies, and worms are all catching them. Be careful wading out there, the boulders and rocks are very slippery right now.
