Fall fishing is here! Though the dry fly fishing has tapered off a little bit the streamer fishing has picked up. Our guides have had some great streamer days recently. Streamers on the smaller side in black, olive, or grey have been the ticket, the Thin Mint is a great fly right now. The weather has been very mild with highs in the 60’s and it looks to stay that way for the next week or so. Be sure to check the bottom of this post for our off season cottage and fishing specials!
Fremont/Cardwell-75 CFS- Fishing has been pretty good in the meadow and the canyon, with some days being better than others. Small and grey seems to be the ticket up there right now. The reefs PULS emerger or a grey mayhem midge have been great trailer flies; pair those with a Bead head pheasant tail or hare’s ear above. Depth and weight are a big factor, start with a lighter, shorter rig and get deeper and heavier if needed.
Miracle Mile-500 CFS- Fishing has been consistently good and the crowds have seemed to drop off a little bit.. Leeches, San Juans, hare’s ears, and RS2’s have been our top bugs. Fishing anywhere from 2’-6’ indicator to weight with a bb as the weight. We are seeing a few browns caught out there, be sure to watch out for any redds and stay off of them.
Grey Reef- Casper 500 CFS- The weeds are dissipating and the fishing has been great! Fishing around 3′-5′ indicator to weight with 1-3 #4 size weights with a #18 BH hare’s ear above a #18-20 Chocolate RS2 has been getting it done. The Reef’s PAL has also been a go-to. The streamer bite has also picked up, look for those nasty cloudy days for your best streamer fishing.
