North Platte Fly Fishing Report-Winter Time

Another good storm brought colder conditions and snow back to Wyoming and the North Platte.   When it comes to fishing Grey Reef, Miracle Mile and Fremont Canyon this time year, there’s really no reason to be in a big rush.  The most productive fishing usually takes place between 10am and 3pm.   This tends to be the warmest period of the day and typically when we see our midge hatch.  As of late we have been doing well of pine squirrel leeches(olive, natural and/or brown), amber scud, reef worm, and a little custom blood worm pattern call a deep purple.  We have been doing better on a slightly longer rig, 6.5-8ft in the tail outs and deeper sections.
