North Platte River Fishing Report

The  fishing remains very consistent on all parts of the river.  Flows are currently steady at the Miracle Mile and there are still plenty of golden stones coming off.  The top water action has been more productive when we have cloud cover, but the nymph and streamer bite is good.  Sometime early next week they will drop the flows to 500 cfs to allow the game and fish to do some electroshocking . Check the flows before making that trip.  Pressure has been very light in Fremont Canyon/Cardwell this week.  We have gotten reports of decent dry fly action on PMD patterns above the bridge and the streamer bite has been good on Goldies and brown Sex Dungeons in the meadow stretch.  Here at Grey Reef the flows have been stable at 3000 cfs for 3 days.  Floating now is going to be your best bet. Fly patterns are the same and the midge activity has been hot until noon or so. I could not keep them off the Mayhem Midge yesterday.  The afternoons are best fished with PMDs and Yellow Sallie patterns like the Rusty RS2 and a Gabriel”s Trumpet.  Streamers like the Goldie and a white Dungeon put a few fish in the boat as well.  The banks with some vegetation and good current are where you should concentrate your efforts.  The water below Government Bridge is fishing well and the clarity is improving everyday. Why aren’t you here?
