Chilly and blustery today on Grey Reef. All of our guide boats out yesterday enjoyed some top notch fishing. I received reports that the trout were eating dries, streamers and nymphs. The streamer bite has been pretty good the last few days. Goldies, Sex Dungeons, Near Nuff Sculpins and Crawdizzles are all producing some aggressive strikes with regularity. On the nymphing side, worms, leeches, Rs2’s, Prince Nymphs, CDC Pheasant Tails and various caddis’ are all working well. Fremont Canyon / Cardwell has been fishing well also on the same patterns. There are still many hunters camped out out at the Mile and a friend said he saw one guy with a 10 pound brown on a stringer! Very sad…. He also reported that the action was very slow yesterday and you really had to work for every fish. The crowds were not as bad above the bridge and the pocket water was definitely more consistent. More seasonal temps are in store for us this coming week and this should only improve the fishing. This is a great time of year to enjoy the North Platte River System.
