North Platte River / Grey Reef

The fishing continues to be great on the Grey Reef section of  the North Platte River.   Midge patterns have been producing in the morning like Boehkle’s Penetrator, GS Meyhem midge or the Reef’s P.a.l.  Baetis patterns are still the rigs to throw in the afternoons and some of the better patterns have been the RS2 Foamo in olive and chocolate, Big Bear Baetis, purple Juju’s,  and even a generic Pheasant tail.  Clarity is great to Lusby, but poor at Government Bridge again.  Runoff should subside withing the next couple of days there.  The lower river (below Government bridge) really needs to be fished this weekend!

Fremont Canyon has been very consistent and not seeing much pressure this week.  I haven’t talked to anyone who has been at the Miracle Mile this week mainly because of poor road conditions.  I am sure it is fishing fine though.  Weather is supposed to be good all weekend, but windy.  Neverless, with temps approaching 80’s how can you complain?  Just get up here and fish!
