Congrats Stu!
Great fishing at Grey Reef and Miracle Mile.
Grey Reef flows back down to 2700cfs and Miracle Mile flows at 1100cfs.
The floaties at Grey Reef are toned down significantly and are not much of an issue. Short rigs, not stripping a nymph rig in and aggressive back casts will keep the irritation to a minimum.
Biggest problem people have is slowly stripping in a nymph rig. There are two flies, split shot and an indicator to hook grass. IF you strip that through the water you will hook floaties. There is a simple formula to keeping rigs clean and making a very enjoyable day…while hooking a pile of fish.
Yesterday we had 4 boats on Grey Reef and the theme was lots of hookups with fish winning a lot of the battles. They are hot and tough to keep on even big hooks. Bugs of choice were Foam Post RS2, scuds, maggot, worms, leeches etc. Big fish are packed in weird spots. EVERY depth is productive!
We have a two night spot available August 31 and Sept 1 for 2 anglers. Friday and Saturday make a perfect weekend trip.
Next available lodge space is for up to 4 anglers Oct 17-21.
Our final availability of the season is for up to 4 anglers arriving Oct 24 and departing the 28th for 3 days of fishing and 4 nights with delicious meals.
Yesterday morning was the first day of fishing for the Dusek group after we picked them up at the airport the evening before. Ron said “we will be ecstatic if the fishing is half as good as the food or service”. He landed a 21″ rainbow and his partner Jim landed an 18″ rainbow on a dry fly…the largest he has ever caught on a dry.
