Wyoming Fly Fishing Report

The flush is winding down and Grey Reef looks amazing. Fishing has been spectacular and the weather is leaning toward spring again. Nymphing has been very good with scuds, midges, leeches, worms and eggs. Baetis (yeah!) are squiggling around and are showing in some stomach samples. Expect low and clear water conditions this spring with excellent wade fishing. This will also give easy access to the redds and cause some boat congestion. Try to refrain from targeting fish on the redds and pleased don’t walk through spawning area.

Miracle Mile has seen a surge in popularity over the past couple years and is relatively busy. From recent reports it hasn’t fished as well but I find that somewhat hard to believe. It is tough to tear away from Grey Reef to find out. We had a couple guides out there over the past couple days and I will file their report soon.

Fremont is fishing well and the rainbows are trying to run the gauntlet of getting their jobs taken care of while trying to avoid being snagged. There were a couple big hens that were poached repeatedly last year.  They were big but taken in unsporting circumstances…I hope the picture is not more important than the advancement of the resource.

The North Platte Lodge still has some great spots available. Come and have a memorable Memorial Day Weekend at NPL or The Reef Fly Shop. Our projects are going full steam ahead. The lodge is going to be very nice! We are really excited to be able to showcase our unmatched location with top notch accommodations. A big load of furniture came in yesterday. It consumed almost an entire barn…
