Wyoming Fly Fishing Report

Grey Reef fly fishing report remains excellent and there is no reason things will change as the PMDs, caddis and yellow sally hatches blossom-Grey Reef river flows are steady at 1000cfs and we are hoping for a bump next week. Fremont Canyon fly fishing report is is also excellent and there is a special focus on caddis and ‘tweener spots- Fremont Canyons flows are 74cfs. Miracle Mile fly fishing report is good and the golden stone flies are moving and productive – Miracle Mile river flows are down to 3000cfs.

The Grey Reef section of the North Platte River is in great shape to Government Bridge. Cloudy to Sechrist and by the time it gets to Casper, Wyoming is is pretty green BUT fishable and folks are catching fish in town. Things will clear further downstream as the summer progresses and we are expecting a very solid dry fly season. Already looking forward to mid-late October and the hunt for trophies. This is big fish season and streamers are the mode of choice. We do have a couple mid- late October openings at the North Platte Lodge. Our next available opening is early September and most of the spots are 1 or 2 room options. Call sooner than later to dial in your fall trip.

Get here asap as the river has been pretty quiet and the College National Finals Rodeo is in full swing in Casper, Wyoming. This is a very cool event even if you aren’t into the rural thing. The athletes are impressive and very excited to be riding at the finals in Casper. It is an indoor rodeo and climate controlled with lots of vendors and displays. Next up will be the Nic Fest…great live music, kid events, art sales and lemon aid. Moving on to fair week and another fun rodeo. Spend a little extra coin and get shoot seats…you won’t regret it. Beartrap Summer Music Festival is later in July and will have a great line up of high profile and not so well known bluegrass bands. Every Wednesday is free live music at the Nic in downtown Casper…BYO…blanket and beer.
