Baetis, Baetis, Baetis! What can I say? Its on! Short rigs, long rigs, swingin’ rigs, any rig with a size 18 BWO nymph or emerger should not let you down in the afternoons this weekend. Mornings have been hot on midge patterns like the Reef’s PAL and Mayhem Midge until about noon, then the baetis start popping and the fun begins! Stop by the shop and we’ll get you fixed up with the appropriate patterns. Finally, we have seen a marked improvement in the water clarity at Government Bridge! This is where I would spend my time right now. There is about 2 feet of visibility and that is enough. All reports I had from the Trappers route area today have been good. From Bates Creek to town is still a muddy mess and floating from the bridge to Sechrist is not advised.
I have had no recent reports from the Miracle Mile or Fremont Canyon. We have boats at the Mile today and I will fill you in when they get off the river. There is some rain in the forecast for tomorrow afternoon, but Sunday looks like it may be a colder, damp day, with temps barely making it into the 40’s. Great Baetis weather!
We do still have availability in our new cottages if you think outside the box with dates. Many Sunday through Thursday dates are open in the next few weeks. Just get up here and fish!
