Wyoming Fly Fishing Guide Report

Central Wyoming and Grey Reef Fly Fishing remains very good despite frequent bumps in river flows. Grey Reef flows are 2000cfs and expected to increase tonight. Miracle Mile river flows are 3000cfs and Fremont Canyon Flows bumping to 500cfs. Loving the increased water! Hatches, however, are weak with a few yellow sallies and fewer PMDs. Midges are solid and there is caddis activity. Despite the weak hatch the fish are eating both yellow sally and PMD patterns as well as pine squirrel leeches. Miracle Mile is fishing ok and the Golden Stones are ramping up.

Water clarity on the true Grey Reef section from Grey Reef Dam to Government bridge is good but deteriorates above Government Bridge. Below Government Bridge visibility drops a bunch. Rigs today varied from 4- 6′ leaders with a BB to #4 depending on where you were at. The Reef’s Soft Hackled Sally, CDC Cased PMD Emerger, Bret Special, Natural Pine Squirrel Leech, Cased Caddis etc all received plenty of attention. As we get to our target flow the North Platte River below the bridge should mend quickly, but well worth the effort right now on the upper.
